Product Highlight: One Color Vases
Share
I often receive questions like, “What are those things?” when people see my One Color Vases. They are designed for a single flower or a small bunch of flowers!
I got the idea for my vases after seeing a friend's taper candles that stood without a holder. I loved how they looked when grouped with different sizes and heights, and I could picture them as a concept for vases. The vases were the beginning of my One Color Collection. I wanted to match my six different colors, so I designed six different sizes and got to work printing them.
At that time, I did not own a 3D printer, and I had only been using 3D printing for handles and small parts through a website called Shapeways. I was a member of the tech shop in Ann Arbor Maker Works, where they had recently acquired a new printer. I purchased some PLA filament, signed up for time slots, and spent the better part of two weeks printing my six different models. I had to create my own process for cleaning up 3D prints and then spent another few weeks making the molds.
The result was my One Color Vases, available in six sizes and six different colored porcelain options. It is a lot of fun to pick out a color and size arrangement or just add one to a windowsill or a bookshelf for a little pop of color.
Thank you for reading this highlight about my One Color Vases. My favorite color combination is a group of four: Bermuda, purple, orange, and chartreuse. I hope you’ve had the chance to see them in person in my booth or take some home with you.
