Paper Stars
Share

Every time I fire my kiln, I create a small paper star for good luck. I keep a glass jar on the shelf next to my kiln where I store my kiln posts. Each time I start a new firing, I place a star in the jar.
When I was a child, I often visited Borders with my dad, and I would immediately head for the spinning display of Klutz kits. These kits taught me how to knit, and there were also beading projects and a small one for making paper stars. I never really forgot how to fold them, and now paper stars are part of who I am. I have jars of them in my studio, gifted ornaments filled with them for close friends during the holidays one year, and of course I always make one for my kiln as a little charm of luck.
